When creating a opening title sequence it is vital that it attracts the audiences attention. In order to do this successfully props should be included with the intention of building tension. Due to our horror being based on torture aspects it was important that we created a handful of bloody scences- we done this by including the following props.
- The first prop we introduced was the chair and rope which amber was tied to. This was effective as it was the first shot the audience seen of our victim. The fact shes tied to a chair with her feet drowning in blood immediently highlights there are more similar scences to be revealed.
- We also used a fake nail and a screwdriver in order to create an effective torture scene. We decided to use a screwdriver as the location was in a basement, therefore this makes the scene seem more realistic as you would expect to see this tool in a basement. This particular torture scene of the nail enables the audience to relate to the characters pain and sympathise with her, despite being horrified by the killers actions.
- A syrnge was used in order to emphasise the killers psychotic thoughts, as represent through the injection of rat poison in the victims neck.
- Another prop we used was a bandage with fake blood on to cover the eyes of Amber (our victim), even though the audience can't physically see the torture scene regarding the removal of the eyeball, most of the individuals would be able to identify that something has happened.
