Metacritic's method of scoring converts every review into a percentage, and then they create an average score. The percentages are also put into sections which are green, orange and red, this colour code makes it simple for others to see what is the best rated horror film are. The research Metacritic use if from around the world, therefore this helps companies manage a worldwide audience and improve to fit the main demand. This will therefore help up when making our opening sequence as we will see what the highest demand genres are to see how we will fit in the market.

The most recent horror 'split' has a score of 74/100 meaning that it is a very popular film. The movie is about a man with 24 different personalities who abducts 3 teenage girls and shows how they try to escape. This can be related to our horror as we are doing a supernatural film and this mans personalities can be seen as supernatural. Therefore it was good for us as we were able to take a lot of ideas from the film. Many different angles and shots were used in the trailer which helps grab the audiences attention therefore we have done this within out opening title sequence. The story line is also very captivating which intrigues the audience which is why it has such a good rating therefore we need to make sure that within our opening sequence the story line is very interesting.

This shows what we found out on Metacritic. There is a large variety of sub-genres however supernatural and slasher and the main ones that are the highest rated. Therefore our sub-genre of supernatural will be popular as many of the supernatural sub-genre movies are the best rated. We will also be able to incorporate gory scenes which will mean that people who are only fans of slasher will like it, opening up our target market.
