TIME OF DAY:
Our group filmed whilst it was light, however due to our location being situated inside a dark place the time of day didn't effect our filming times. Furthermore the time of day was irrelevant!
Lighting:
Lighting within horror films is considered to be a very important aspect because it has an impact on the suspense and tension which is created for the purpose of making the audience have a thrilling experience. For our OTS we thought it would be most effective to include a range of different lighting in order to gradually build up the suspense.
Low key lighting is mainly used in horror films because of the effect it creates. The dhaddows formed by this type of lighting are suited to the conventions of a horror film; it creates tension due to its mysterious and dark atmosphere, controlling how much of the surroundings and characters are revealed. Furthermore it sets the tone, mood and creates a dangerous association with the enigma through the shaddows and dull shades.
In order to create shadows we used bright yellow torch lights, this added to the suspense as it implies a show and not tell impression. This technique is effective as the audience begin to stimulate ideas of torture and begin to get scared, this reaction is what you expect when watching a horror film. Therefore conducting clips with high intensity exposes the audiences' fear which results in a successful horror.
