Victim: Amber
Our group decided that Amber would make the best victim because she has blonde hair which supports the steryotypical victim. Within the majority of horror movies, those with blonde hair are likely to be killed off first because they are portrayed as being uncapable of defending themselves- they are the weekest.
Our opening sequence has 2 main characters, the first being the typical female victim and the second being the villain; but, the villain is never revealed in order to add suspense and create hype to the outward audience. This will encourage hype online- as people will begin to predict who this character could potentially be and what he will do next...
The first time the audience are introduced to the female character (Amber) she is tied to a chair. We used a long shot for this because it doesn't onl identify the victim it reveals the surrounding. This is powerful as it allows the audience to see what poor conditions she is situated in, it also highlights that fact she is beeing held hostage and is in danger.
The first torture scence is introduced approximately half way through the opening of our OTS, The removal of the victims fingernail is significant as it reflects her pain. This act of torture is intense, therefore it meets the expectations of what our target audience is expecting to see and experience- gorey scenes.
Due to the killer not being fully visable within our opening sequence means there is room for interpretation. The concept of only being able to see the hands of the killer implies that all humans have the ability to be a monster.
